About MadTown Redesign
MadTown Redesign is an academic-based organization focused around the redesign and creation of professional, authentic, and useful websites for professors and research groups alike. We are based in Madison, WI, but our services have extended out to other metropolitan areas such as Milwaukee. Our focus is to take a new approach to web design, creating personally driven, professionally designed, websites for the busy researcher. These websites are meant to enhance their research, providing better access to useful content, easier to find references to current research for students, job opportunities, and methods to collaborate on projects around the globe.
The world we live in today is driven by technology; it can be found at every turn, in every corner of the world. While the news fills the world with stories of negative uses of this media, the internet provides a powerful tool to connect to others worldwide, and the academic community takes advantage of this the most. In truth, a website can tell a lot about an organization, many times before the individual has even met any single person of the faculty. This is due in part to the new generation entering college, a generation that grew up with computers, grew up with the internet, and understands the power it contains; they are the strongest critics of any web site. Therefore, it is only natural that websites are popping up all over the place to advertise new products, services, and even promote research.
When it comes down to the basics, a website can promote research, share results, and help show off the magnificent achievements one is making to the world, hopefully landing additional funding or perhaps a partnership with another high-end facility. It is this reason, this calling, that MadTown Redesign focuses on. Since every professor has his or her own research projects, the sites need to be different as well. Therefore, we cater to unique needs, creating customized solutions for your site while still keeping the professional appearance.
Don't know HTML? Not a problem! The second piece of our work is to make a solution that works for you! What good is paying someone money to build you a website that you cannot update without hiring another individual just to maintain it? That isn't our purpose; instead, we create websites that work with software driven interfaces for editing content, giving you the power to manage your own site without having to know a single line of code. Using programs like Adobe Contribute and Adobe Dreamweaver, solutions are created that put the power of maintaining the site back in your hands. Furthermore, with any site comes free training with the software we use, along with a service agreement for future maintainence on the site.
As part of our professional appearence, we code and create websites to the highest standards, following W3C guidelines, accessibility guidelines, and providing solutions that require as little maintainence as possible. Due to this, if you decide down the line you want to redesign your site again, you won't be stuck with a site that only we can fix.
